Diablo 3 Enhancements (Enchants)

In Diablo 3 every character you play will have access to your Mystic, which will give you the abilities to identify mysterious items and to enhance your equipment. You’ll level your Mystic from an apprentice to exalted and eventually be able to unlock all the enhancements in Diablo. Let’s take a look at what these enhancements do and how they work.

Itemization

Similar to World of Wacraft, not all items can be enhanced. In Diablo 3, you’ll be able to enhance your shoulders, gloves, pants, boots, rings and weapons. The other items you will be able to socket with gems at your Jeweler.

Enhancement Quality

Each enhancement is one of several qualities. Similar to World of Warcraft these go by the names: Minor X, Lesser X, X, Greater X, Major X, Super X and Heroic X. Each quality tier is greater and more powerful than the next. As the tier gets higher the variable range of the enhancement is reduced as well. So Minor Assault is 10-30 Attack while Heroic Assault is 125-150 Attack.

Shoulder Armor

In World of Warcraft enchanters don’t have the ability to enchant shoulders, but in Diablo 3 this will be one of their unique skills. At this time there are 5 different enhancements you can put on shoulders, each in most of the 7 quality tiers mentioned above.

  • Accuracy: + Precision
  • Fortunate: + Gold Find
  • Fortification: + Armor
  • Assault: + Attack
  • Brawn: + Vitality

Hands / Gloves

As you would expect your Mystic can also enhance your gloves with similar stats as your shoulder pieces.

  • Fortification: + Armor
  • Evasion: + Defense
  • Restless: + Experience Earned
  • Brawn: + Vitality
  • Accuracy: + Precision

Legs / Pants

The unique part about your leg spot is that it’s the only one that you can enhance with + Magic Find.

  • Fortification: + Armor
  • Evasion: + Defense
  • Brawn: + Vitality
  • Assault: + Attack
  • Seeking: + Magic Find

Feet / Boots

  • Evasion: + Defense
  • Assault: + Attack
  • Brawn: + Vitality
  • Nimble: + Movement Speed
  • Accuracy: + Precision

Finger / Rings

  • Accuracy: + Precision
  • Gathering: + Increase Gold/Health Auto-Pickup Range
  • Euphoria: + Life
  • Evasion: + Defense
  • Brawn: + Vitality
  • Assault: + Attack

Wand

The wand, used mostly by Wizards, has some really interesting enhancements. I’m not sure who would enhance their wand with Deflection though.

  • Ensorcelled: + Arcane Power per Crit (Wizard)
  • Cerebral: + Arcane power (Wizard)
  • Gore: + Damage
  • Brutality: + Critical Hit
  • Spikes: Attackers Take Damage
  • Celerity: + Attack Speed

Bow

Demons and Witch Doctors are typically found with bows, but I guess Blizzard thought it might be appropriate to let Wizards have some more arcane damange on theirs?

  • Hostility: + Hatred Regeneration (Demon Hunter)
  • Certainty: + Discipline (Demon Hunter)
  • Infusing: + Mana Regeneration (Witch Doctor)
  • Decimation: + Mana (Witch Doctor)
  • Cerebral: + Arcane Power (Wizard)
