If you’re like me and you’re a well seasoned WoW profiteer, with bank tabs full of Pyrite, Pristine Hides, extra gems and more gold than you know what to do with then you’re probably familiar with some of the popular market tracking tools for World of Warcraft. The first one that comes to mind was the classic WoWEcon. At some point it seemed to be neglected and it’s popularity and accuracy waned. Somewhere in there a tool by Auctioneer popped but was also discontinued when Cataclysm was released.

Today, there are three high quality tools that provide us data in WoW. The Undermine Journal, AH Spy (very new) and WoW Trader. Okay so what’s this have to do with Diablo 3? Well, the ground work is being put down for a very powerful commodity and gold tracking tool. Right now it just tracks gold in beta bucks. Currently it’s sitting over at Inc Gamers, but I’m really hoping it gets hosted somewhere else because their site is rather questionable for a few reasons I don’t need to elaborate on here. It also doesn’t really have a name, I guess it’s just called ‘Currency History’

As you can see it hasn’t been running since December, for whatever reason. However, the author mentions elsewhere that it does hourly scans to determine the price of gold. It also appears to check the quantity of gold posted and create a visual representation of it. I think the site speaks for itself and I imagine the final iteration of the product that we actually use in the live version of the game will be very different.

Keep your eye out for other useful tools in the making. Being able to track commodity prices (which this should be able to do) will be an invaluable resource. Let me know if there’s anything else out there I’m missing and make sure you subscribe to this blog to make sure you don’t miss something!
