Mystic (Removed 1/19)

Update: On January 19th, 2012 the Mystic was removed from Diablo III. The following will be kept around for awhile for historic purposes…

The Mystic in Diablo 3 is an Artisan available to your character to train and utilize throughout his or her adventure through the various acts of the game. The Mystic gives you the ability to identify and enhance certain types of equipment and will provide you the same level of skillful enhance across all your character regardless of which character you unlocked the Mystics skills with.

The Mystics name is Myriam Jazia. You will rescue her in the desert later in Act I and she can be leveled over 10 levels just like the Blacksmith and Jeweler. She will offer the ability to identify and enhance items. These enhancements will offer a degree of random’ness when applied to your equipment. We also know that only some equipment can be enhanced, these include: shoulders, gloves, pants, boots, rings, and almost all weapons. The rest of the equipment in the game can be socketed.

Leveling Your Mystic

Leveling your Mystic will work very similar to leveling your Blacksmith and Jeweler. You will visit your artisans from time to time, bringing them Tomes of Training, gold and certain crafting materials. These will allow you to ‘train’ the artisan. It will require 5 trainings to earn 1 of 10 total levels. Your artisan will begin as a level 1 apprentice and you will seek to reach level 10 exalted. Each time you train you will unlock new weapon and equipment enhancements and the visual appearance of your Artisan will progress as seen below.

Depending on the difficult you find the gear in will determine the usability of the essence. Rune Dust is found while salvaging Runestones, so you will need to either salvage a bunch of runestones yourself or buy them on the auction house.
