So much for the real money auction house. What was once expected to go live with Diablo 3 on May 15th has been pushed back at least 3 times now. Once it was pushed back to the 22nd, then the 29th and now June 12th, four full weeks after the release of the game. Will it get pushed back again?
We all know Blizzard never releases games and system on time. To include the Mystic which was removed from the game in January, to the PvP system that was once part of D3 to the Real Money Auction House. But what are we really losing?
“Make Real Money!”
I’m sure you have seen all sorts of ads about making real money and products that promise to help you make tons of gold and real money. These hopes have been shattered. It’s impossible to make real money right now. Unless you sell your gold and items on the black market. There are some ultra rare items worth millions of gold and there are players who are capitalizing off of market manipulation (like the guys at Marko’s Diablo 3 Forum), but by the time the RMAH goes live what will be left?
Nearly everyone will be level 60 (with at least one character). Most players will have conquered Inferno. They will be impatiently waiting for PvP or maybe a rumor of an expansion. Exquisite Essence will be damn close to its vendor value (if it isn’t already) and everyone will have 30-50,000 DPS anyways.
Players will be able to farm their own alt gear from earlier acts without much effort. We can already farm bosses like Captain Daltyn in less than 90 seconds on Inferno with Act I Inferno gear. Commodities will be practically free. Blacksmiths will be pumping out high quality gear and driving the prices down. Will people spend real money on gear?
What’s the Problem Anyways?
I am in no way affiliated with Blizzard, I’m just a lucky beta tester and a fan of the Diablo series. Over the last 6 months that I’ve been following Diablo 3 there have been countless reports of cheating, duping and hacking through the auction house and in game. These popped up and were confirmed during the beta months ago. Yes, during the beta! When there were only a few hundred thousand people playing. Now there are millions! The integrity of the Diablo economy might not even last until June 12th!
The auction house has been slow, buggy and flat out offline numerous times since release nearly 2 weeks ago. I just put down a buyout on a nice bow and my ‘Send to Stash’ button has been grayed out for 20 minutes now. The commodities market is down and the value of gems is still jacked up anyways. Oh well. We can get an idea what might be going wrong and why it’s offline and being pushed back again and again and again.
How can We Get Ahead?
If you still have high hopes of going from rags to riches in Diablo 3 there is still a chance… The folks over at Marko’s Diablo 3 Forum are on top of every change, every update and every new strategy. It’s not just one person, it’s a bunch of expert players trying to one-up each other with the latest strategy to make gold. If there is a way to make a billion gold or $thousands of real money in Diablo, they are going to be the first to find it. Period. So join up if you consider yourself an aspiring Diablo profiteer.
But if you don’t want to take that advice, I would recommend you liquidate everything of value you have from now until June 12th and then decide if you want to sell that gold for real-money then. There will still be a lot of “lazy” players who want to double down on their $60 investment to get even more damage out of their characters. We may even see prices of items go up after the RMAH is launched as more gold enters circulation from these soon to be real-money wielding gamers.
Most commodities, gems and gear will lose value from now until then; so holding them won’t do you any good. Only the really really rare stuff will go up when the real money craze begins.
Important: Many of the strategies and tips I share here were originally inspired by the people at the Diablo 3 Gold Secrets Forum. If you're serious about making the big bucks in Diablo 3, or just being the best players, you need to signup ASAP.
If I had a surefire way to make lots of gold on the AH, the last thing I would do would be to tell anyone about it.
“Nearly everyone will be level 60 (with at least one character). Most players will have conquered Inferno. They will be impatiently waiting for PvP or maybe a rumor of an expansion.” currently about 2-3% of players are even on inferno, but by the twelfth most players will be done with it. That makes sense.
“Exquisite Essence will be damn close to its vendor value (if it isn’t already) and everyone will have 30-50,000 DPS anyways.” umm no an exquisite essence will always be a little below the average lvl 60 blue item vendor price, except when commodity auctions first work again, when everyone will try to get rid of all their essences as fast as they can.
think about these things
Well guess you were wrong in a lot of aspects. Maybe you should probably rewrite this to something that’s even remotely accurate. You were way off with all of your assumptions. Essences haven’t dropped and people can barely get by act 2. This post was a waste of my time.
Thanks man, you’re welcome to post here too if you’d like.
